Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain occurs in the lower abdomen and pelvic region.  Many women are affected by pelvic pain and it can happen for a variety of reasons. Pain may originate in organs including the bladder, gastrointestinal tract, appendix, uterus, or ovaries. Pelvic pain may occur due to pregnancy, infection, or inflammation in pelvic region. Pain may also occur in relation to tight or relaxed pelvic floor muscles or sometimes due to neurological issues.

Pelvic pain that is new and severe requires immediate evaluation. Pregnancy and infection should be first ruled out. A pelvic ultrasound may be needed to evaluate for ovarian cysts or uterine problems. If you are struggling with pelvic pain, please contact our office for an appointment for evaluation.

If pelvic pain is severe, you are running a fever, or having pain accompanied with vomiting, this may be an emergency and may be best evaluated immediately in the emergency room.
